Each week, I check in with myself and review what I'm working on, what's exciting me, what I'm struggling with, and what I'm looking forward to in the next week.
I share my Sunday check-ins with the hope that you might do the same. If you do, please let me know! Leave a comment here, or if you'd rather, you can always email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This Week's Projects
Travel - The Vacation Dream Book
The full Vacation Dream Book workbook is in development! I worked with Kate Hutchinson to plan the creation process, which turned out to be a great decision. I have a solid plan for getting the workbook completed by December. Her process and some one-on-one time was just what I needed to understand what it will take to get this done.
What's working: Getting help. Wanting to do everything ourselves is a blessing and a curse for creatives. It makes us resourceful and persistent. But sometimes it takes more time and effort than it's truly worth. Sometimes, it's just a frustration. It's important for creatives to get help when we need it, so we can move forward with our best work.
Reading - Escape to Pirate Island!
This year I've wanted to read more fiction. I've been making time in the evening to get away from the computer and read. Last night I finished Escape to Pirate Island, by Niamh Murphy. I was really excited about it because it's a historical adventure with a lesbian romance and that is just about everything I need in a fun read.
What I'm struggling with: Sometimes it's hard to turn off the analytical part of my brain to just enjoy things for fun. Is the writing perfect in this novel? No. But it was still a lot of fun, and I want to feel free to enjoy a good read without demanding it be more than it is.
My First Novel
250 words a day for three days in a row! OH YEAH! I'm doing this thing.
It's Your Turn!
My challenge to you this week is to think times when you've resisted asking for help. Are there things you insist on doing yourself when it's not the best use of your time? How can you get some help so you can free up your time and energy to do what you do best?
